Math Class: Monday, December 17th
Today we began with Mental Math (#41), as usual. After completing Mental Math, we were then reminded by Mr. Maksymchuk two things:
- Today is the last day to get your 2D/3D Projects Spreadsheet checked and marked by Mr. Maksymchuk.
- There are 48 objectives due before the Christmas break (Friday, December 21st). Also, Mr. Maksymchuk will be marking us out of 37 objectives the Thursday just before the 48 objectives will be marked.
The rest of the class was given to work on Accelerated Math, or finish up your Spreadsheet.
Notes:
What do you think of Mental Math? Is it too hard? Is it even useful? Does it help you learn? Do we do it too much? Leave a comment on this post saying what you think about Mental Math - but keep it clean, please.
Do you have a hard time understanding some words/terms found in math class? Well a great website, http://www.mathwords.com/, can help you with just that. Just click on the link, click on whatever letter your unknown term begins with, search for and click on the term/word and it will give you a definition, picture, example, etc on that term. This website is great when doing 2D/3D Projects in Accelerated Math.

Special Note: Math Tutoring
Monday: Mr.Buchanan
Tuesday: Mrs.Larson
Wednesday: Mr.Max
Thursday: Mrs.Larson
Friday: No Tutoring
ANOTHER SPECIAL NOTE VERY IMPORTANT!!!!!!!!!!!1
MR.MAX WANTS TO KNOW IF WE WOULD LIKE HIM TO COME IN DURING THE CHRISTMAS BREAK SO WE CAN SCAN STUFF FOR ACCELERATED MATH, BECAUSE THERE IS GOING TO BE 50-60 OBJECTIVES DUE FOR THE END OF THE YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!
MR.MAX WANTS ME TO NOTE THAT HE ISN'T ASSIGNING HOMEWORK FOR THE BREAK, BUT HIM COMING INTO THE SCHOOL IS AN OPTION, SO YOU CAN GET YOUR OBJECTIVES DONE EARLY SO YOU CAN USE THE TIME IN JANUARY TO STUDY FOR EXAMS!!!!!!!!!!!
SO HE NEEDS YOUR OPINION ON HIM COMING IN FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS DURING BREAK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1LEAVE COMMENTS SO HE CAN READ WHAT YOU THINK!!!!!!!!!

This here PARAGRAGH, is the definition for the "Law of Sines".
This is a question that Mr. Maksymchuck came up with.we started with picking an "unknown" to solve for, which you can see on the image.
The second step was the "set up of the ratios" Mr. Max told us a pretty.... reasuring way to do this
He then showed us how to use one whole equation on how to figure out how to figure out that "unknown".
On this image, Fuddy showed us a way on how to figure out the whole thing with something he(and a bunch of the other kids) learned last year called the "fish"
The answer we got was right, but Mr. Max told us that this won't work every time, and you can't show your work by doing this.

This picture shows a stick-man and the angle of elevation (or inclination), and the angle of depression (or declination). Do not get the two mixed up.

Here are some more pictures of EUKLID and angle of elevation/depression

The New Computer Schedule...
On an unrelated note, check out the posts below (especially Logan's and Lizzy Bee's). Logan has quite effectively demonstrated an answer to the question "What does a typically good blog scribe post look like?", and Lizzy Bee effectively demonstrated that even if you forget to scribe on the day you're assigned, you can quickly recover and contribute meaningfully to your class. Good on both of you. Your class is lucky to have you and your efforts to improve learning, so on their behalf, thank you to both of you...

Math Class Nov. 6th

The next step was to use either slope y-intercept form or point-slope form to find the linear equation of that parallel line with the x, y coordinate on it. We chose to use slope y-intercept form and substituted our x and y values, and our slope (m) to find out the y-intercept (b). So once we worked out what b was, we put our slope and y-intercept in slope y-intercept form (y=mx+b) and came to a correct end result.

Here is a visual representation of the quiz question we did today on graph paper.
This is a useful piece of information about all Standard Form Equations and will help you with a few questions in the parallel and perpendicular lines section in Accelerated Math.
After we completed the practice quiz question, we were given the rest of the class to work on Accelerated Math.

Today Mr. Max showed us the second and third linear form on his computer. The two forms were the Point-Slope Form, and the Standard Form. He then very simply showed us what Graphmatica program is used for. For the rest of the class he let us work on Accelerated Math.
